Lost in the woods

Posted by Zombie - August 8th, 2007

On July 5th 2007 we went to Salthouse Branch Park on Philpott Lake in southwest Virgina for a camping trip.

Anyway the first night my dad and my uncles just basically got really really drunk. The next day my dad had hell of a hangover. At about, I would guess 5, my brother wanted to go to the playground right by the lake. My three cousins 16, 15 , and 8 and I went.

Anyway we got real bored and noticed a new hiking trail right by the playground. The map outside of it showed the trail going in a loop. We thought it would just go around the camp. Anyway we all go on the trail. after about 30 minutes I start getting worried and tell them to go back. My cousin Wendy (16) acted like see knew where we were going.

It started to get dark. We had no clue where we were. We were literally off the trail in the middle of the woods. I couldn't stand the fact we getting chased by damn horseflys. My cousin Aaron (8) started to cry because his feet hurt lol, my brother Jake (7) was tired and started to cry. So they whine and ride piggy back on Wendy and Mandy.

We got to a dark opening in the woods pitch black. At this point my cosin Mandy (15) started to freak out. Mostly because all she was thinking about was The Blair Witch Project.

We start to run blindly back, and got to water, and call our lungs out for boats. These two dudes from West Virginia who were fishing heard us and came to help. We got on the boat and went back at about 9:30 P.M.

When we got off the boat my cousin Wendy's sister Marissa who was fishing during the time was freaking out screaing in tears " Why'd you do it Wendy??!!"

As I mentioned before my dad had a hangover lol. Anyway a bunch of people were looking for us.

Then we figured out the trail lasted 20 miles. That is one camping trip I won't forget.
